ADVOCATING FOR THE WHOLE CHILD IN THE CLASSROOM

Amy Valens is a recently retired elementary teacher from the Laguntas School District in San Geronomio, California.

She decided to document her last year in the classroom. Her husband, Tom, being a film maker, was able to assist.

The result is August to June, a film not at all about Amy Valens.

What you get is an intimate view of children engaged in learning. You see how a teacher must always relate to the WHOLE CHILD. Fortunately for Amy, she could relate personally as well as pedagogically to her students through the rich variety of experiences she was able to provide with the wholehearted support of her community.

Amy and Tom are now dedicated to documenting THE EDUCATION OF THE WHOLE CHILD in classroom practice.
